Community Outreach
Our chapter is committed to giving back to the community. There are so many people in need, from homeless shelters, domestic violence
shelters, or the shortage of the blood supply at our local hospitals. Below are the projects we have worked on and have more projects in the works:
-
On May 5, Mothers & More joined forces with the Oswego Police
Department and hosted a car seat safety check in the parking lot
outside of Target in Oswego. The police department checked
approximately 75 car seats and gave away one seat to a needy family. Many thanks to the police and Mothers & More members who volunteered their time. Also thank you to members who provided baked goods and to Krispy Kremes for their donation of
4 dozen doughnuts to hand out to visitors.
-
In March, we hosted a Mom's Night Out were our members participated in a scavenger hunt to collect food for the Kendall County food pantry. We collected and donated two large boxes of food to the county to benefit the needy.
-
At our recent children's holiday party, we collected 67 new toys which were given to Mutual Grounds domestic violence shelter.
-
Members
donated 27 baskets of newborn baby supplies to the Visiting Nurses
Association of Fox Valley. Baskets are given to new mothers
in need at their first baby wellness visit. The VNA serves women
in our community who are under or uninsured. Our members are
proud to help this cause.
-
We kicked off
our summer with a clothing drive for the homeless. We
collected 30 bags of clothes, canned goods, socks and underwear, which
were donated to Hesed House in Aurora.
-
The Mothers
& More Blood Drive in July 1, was a great success. In
collaboration with Heartland Blood Center, we collected 27 units of
blood, effectively saving 81 lives.
