Leadership Opportunities

Set forth below is a brief description of our Chapter's board position and duties:

Leader  Leader is responsible for the overall direction of the Chapter.  Leader is responsible for scheduling and running Board meetings as needed, handling escalations on issues from Board and Chapter members, and addressing issues brought to the Chapter from National leadership. 

Co-Leader  Co-Leader is responsible for assisting the Leader in overall direction of the Chapter.  Co-Leader is also responsible for completing the tasks of any open position for the first thirty (30) days the position becomes vacant, and for thirty 30) days after elections if the position is not filled.

Community Outreach  The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for driving advocacy and community relation efforts, updating the Board on the results of those efforts, and notifying National leadership of the Chapter’s advocacy and community relations efforts.

Fundraising  Fundraising is responsible for the Chapter’s fundraising efforts including obtaining Board approval for fundraising, organizing and completing fundraising activities, and reporting fundraising results to the Board and National leadership.

Marketing/Publicity  Marketing/Publicity is responsible for communicating the Chapter’s events to local papers as well as creating the necessary flyers and materials to advertise the Chapter.  

Membership  Membership is responsible for (i) signing up new members; (ii) working on membership drives, including Prairie Fest and Open House; (iii) assisting new members with general questions; and (iv) maintaining and distributing the current membership list to the Chapter.

Newsletter  Newsletter is responsible for creating and distributing the monthly Chapter newsletter.  

Playgroup Coordinator  The Playgroup Coordinator is responsible for helping members get involved in playgroups, maintain current list of playgroup membership, maintaining Playgroup Guidelines, enforcing playgroup policies, creating new playgroups as needed, and scheduling an annual playgroup promotion event.

Programming  The Programming Coordinator is responsible for organizing and attending twenty (20) Program Nights a year.

Secretary  The Secretary is responsible for the creation, distribution (to Board members), and maintenance of Board meeting minutes.  She is also responsible for running Chapter elections.

Treasurer  The Treasurer is responsible for the Chapter money including maintaining the Chapter checkbook, handling all distribution of Chapter money, and reporting Chapter financial information to the Board, Leader, and National leadership.

Social Coordinator  The Social Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and planning the social calendar, communicating the social calendar to the Newsletter chair, attending social events, and reminding members of upcoming social events.

Website/Yahoo Group Administrator  The Website/Yahoo Group Administrator is responsible for resolving problems related to the Chapter’s use of Yahoo groups, assisting members with signing onto Yahoo groups, and maintaining the Chapter’s Yahoo groups and website.
