Mission
Beliefs
- A mother is more
than any single role she plays at any given point in her lifetime. She
is entitled to fully explore and develop her identity as she chooses:
as a woman, a citizen, a parent or an employee.
- All the work mothers
do whether paid or unpaid - has social and economic value.
- All women deserve
recognition and support for their right to choose if and how to combine
parenting and paid employment.
- All mothers, all
children and all families are unique. We respect the wisdom of each
mother to decide how to care for her children, her family and
herself.
- Mothers have the
right to fulfill their care giving responsibilities without incurring
social and economic penalties.
- The transitions
women make into and through motherhood are challenging and can be
difficult.
- Together, mothers
are powerful.

**********************************************
We realize that
mothers want more time with their children, more flexible work options
and more ways to combine career and family over a number of
years. We also realize that mothers are more - they juggle
many other roles and interests in addition to their role as a
parent. Mothers & More provides a sense of connection
for women balancing the roles of woman, mother and
professional.
Mothers & More is comprised of women from a variety of
backgrounds. Some members are first-time mothers who have
recently left the paid workforce, while others have been sequencing for
years. Some members decide to pursue meaningful volunteer
work during their years at home. Other members opt for
part-time employment or launch their own home-based business.
Others are looking to transition back into the full-time paid workforce
but with family-friendly flexible options such as flex-time, job
sharing or telecommuting.
It's difficult to go from the intellectual and social stimulation of
full-time employment to the often isolating world of
motherhood. If you need someone to talk to besides Elmo or
Dora, please come check out Mothers & More.
